Maskierung, ekstatischer Tanz und Chanting sind Bestandteile alter ritueller und kultischer Handlungen. Sie werden in vielen Kulturkreisen bis heute praktiziert und ermöglichen durch reduzierte Selbstkontrolle eine veränderte Wahrnehmung. Innerhalb der RaumKlangInstallation werden diese Elemente in einen medialen Kontext gestellt. Es beginnt ein Wechselspiel zwischen Beruhigung und Aktion, Hingabe und Provokation, Eingrenzung und Befreiung, Selbstvergessenheit und Selbstdarstellung.
Masking, ecstatic dance and chanting can all be found within the traditional framework of ancient rites and cult activities. Carried out by cultural groups throughout the world, they help to reduce the practitioner's sense of self-control. These elements are exhibited in a multi-media context within this space & sound installation. Periods of silence alternate with hummed melodies. Interplay develops between various contrasting aspects - pacification and action, devotion and provocation, limitation and liberation, of losing one's self and of self-display.
